Dress Requirements

Recruits in appropriate attire

The College has strict rules relating to dress and these have been developed to ensure students’ safety during physical training and other day to day activities that are part of their studies.

You should note that the following are not permitted:

During lectures and tutorials

All attire should be modest.

Men:

  • Neat pants or similar, casual or leather type shoes, collar & tie
  • In winter - jumpers/vests, button/zippered jackets

Women:

  • Smart professional/business attire (including slacks)

During fitness training

Men & Women

  • Navy t-shirt (no singlet) and navy shorts.
  • Shorts must be above the knees.
  • In winter - track pants may be worn over shorts.
  • You must wear quality, well-fitted running shoes (no basketball shoes etc).
  • You are not permitted to wear any jewellery (including wedding rings).
  • Women must have their hair tied back in a bun or similar (no ponytails or plaits) with a hair net, bobby pins or navy or black scrunchies only.

Police Shop

A Police Shop is located at the Police College, Goulburn where you may purchase police branded clothing in line with fitness training dress requirements (outlined above). Beards

If you are planning on growing a beard, do so prior to going into uniform. (Once you are in uniform you are not permitted to grow one unless you are on holidays). Beards must be full beards or moustaches.

When you are in uniform

As a serving police officer you will not be able to wear any piercing (including earrings) and jewellery will be confined to a wedding ring, a dress ring and a watch.

Students go into uniform part-way through Session 2.
