Library and other facilities
Library facility
The Academy library provides information services for members of the NSW Police Force and students and staff of the School of Policing Studies and the Centre for Investigative Studies & Crime Reduction.
Computer facility
Students have access to a variety of computer facilities whilst studying at Goulburn. The use of computer technology and applications is an integral aspect of police work. Students are encouraged to develop general computer skills prior to attending the Academy. The ability to type at least 25 words per minute, with at least 98% accuracy is a pre-employment requirement which will need to be demonstrated by the submission of a typing certificate.
NSW Police computer labs are available during teaching hours for general word processing and training in the use of COPS (Computerised Operational Policing System). COPS training as well as the use of other NSW Police computer applications will be undertaken as part of the course.
Computers connected to the University network are available in the library (during library opening hours) and in an additional CSU computer laboratory recently opened with 24 hours access. Facilities provided include general word processing, on-line subject support such as forums, CSU Interact and e-communications and access to the Internet and e-mail.
Education facility
The NSW Police Academy is a well-resourced education facility. Students are given the opportunity to use equipment that will be commonplace when they become police officers.
