CSU financial assistance

Special Assistance Loans Scheme

This loans scheme provides short term financial assistance to enable students to continue their studies. Eligible students are those who:

• are Commonwealth supported students who are currently enrolled at CSU
• are Australian citizens or have permanent residence status
• have a satisfactory academic record and the financial capacity to repay a loan.

Loans may only be approved for:

• off campus accommodation (bond/rent)
• purchase of text books
• purchase of uniforms
• purchase of study equipment
• maintenance of vehicle (where required for course)
• travelling expenses (internship, practicum)
• some medical expenses
• living expenses (food, bills etc)
• utilities
• other educational expenses as approved

Emergency Loans Scheme

If you require a short-term loan for essential items or expenses such as (but not limited to) food, emergency accommodation or expenses associated with medical or family crisis, and where the money is required urgently (i.e. within one working day), an Emergency Loan may be an option. All students enrolled in any course or subject at CSU is eligible to apply for an Emergency Loan. These loans are subject to approval by the Director, Student Services.

Budgeting Advice

Student Services has staff who can help you to manage your finances with advice on budgeting and accommodation contact support central staff on studenthelp@csu.edu.au or 1300 734 654.

Residential School Fee Assistance

Residences and Catering provide financial assistance to distance education students attending residential schools at Bathurst or Wagga Wagga campuses, in the form of some free nights accommodation. For more information, please contact a Student Equity Officer.
