“After more than 15 years in the dental profession, obtaining an appropriate qualification as a dental practitioner was the next step in progressing my career. Although I lived in Queensland, Charles Sturt University was the obvious choice for my studies. Understandably CSU's high quality, innovative educational programs and its strong community focus aligns with my own principals and beliefs in relation to health care.

How exciting it is to be given access to new and innovative facilities in the brand new state-of-the-art complex at Orange, NSW. There can be no better preparation for a career in a progressive profession such as Dentistry.

Living and studying alongside other students on campus at Orange offers the experience of a metropolitan University with a country flavour. It is a privilege to be a member of the foundation year of the Bachelor of Dental Science at Charles Sturt University.”

“I was inspired to further my career in the Dentistry field after working as a dental assistant for the past four years.

CSU offers a brand new facility with state-of-the-art equipment, and I feel extremely privileged to be a part of this exciting new course. CSU’s Bachelor of Oral Health (Therapy/Hygiene) has allowed me to gain an understanding of the medical, dental, social and community context of oral health, whilst developing my practical skills with hands on experience in the simulation clinic.

I have really enjoyed my time at CSU so far and even with full-time study my social life has not been disadvantaged. I have no doubt that the new friendships I have made will last a lifetime.”

“With a degree like CSU’s Bachelor of Oral Health (Therapy/Hygiene), I hope to put smiles on more people’s faces.

“The course is preparing me for the workforce, as the theoretical and practical components are of very high calibre. During my first placement, which we were assigned not long after commencing the course, I was able to experience a real work place and learn how it functions. The placement gave me insight into just what was ahead of me after graduation and the motivation to continue pursuing my interest in this career area.

“CSU provides excellent facilities. My most memorable CSU experience so far would be moving into the state-of-the-art dental building and working in the simulation clinic on the phantom heads. The access to the library enables me to gather extensive information relevant to the subjects I am studying while the gym, swimming pool and sporting teams provide opportunities to stay fit and healthy during my study. I have been able to make a wide range of friends by participating in various sporting teams in and out of the University. I have also befriended those in my course and those I live with.

“CSU is an excellent community to be a part of and offers a great environment in which to study and learn all that is required to succeed as a high achieving graduate.”

“I play a vital role as a dental practitioner in Wagga Wagga, as the demand for dental treatment in the region far outweighs the supply of practitioners. I learnt early in my career that the skill set needed as a general practitioner in a regional and rural community is wide and varied.

“Regional cities like Wagga Wagga and Orange provide an ideal learning platform for dentistry students. By combining teaching and learning with clinical practise, Charles Sturt University’s dentistry courses will provide oral health services across the five regional communities in which the University’s campuses are situated, exposing students to a wide range of dental experience and encouraging them to think outside the square.

“There has been a well documented need for greater access to dental services for all members of our community, and I commend CSU for developing quality education facilities based in the regions as a way of addressing this issue.

“As an active member of the southern NSW branch of the Australian Dental Association, I support CSU’s new School of Dentistry and Health Sciences, and see this new development as an opportunity for both my profession and rural and regional communities to benefit.”

“ADA NSW sees the CSU Dentistry development as a significant step forward in enhancing the recruitment and retention of dentists and rural health professionals in NSW. It is also likely that graduates from CSU will be able to address issues of shortages of dentists in county areas and impact positively on dental services in those communities.”

“CSU’s Dentistry and Oral Health Therapy program has undergone thorough and extensive consultation and planning, setting a new benchmark for course development at the university

“I am confident the program will be a national leader and make a significant contribution to the sustainability of the University and the communities in which we operate.”
