Since completing his PhD in 1996 at the University of New South Wales on Acid Sulfate Soils in the Tweed Valley, Dr Wilson worked for the University of Adelaide and the Cooperative Research Centre for Soil and Land Management before arriving at Charles Sturt University in 1997. He has held the position of Sub Dean Learning and Teaching for the Faculty of Science and is currently Chair of the American Soil Quality Working Group.

Dr Wilson is an active member of Institute of Land Water and Society, the Cooperative Research Centre for Plant Based Management of Dryland Salinity, the Australian Society of Soil Science the Soil Science Society of America and the Society of Wetland Scientists.

Since completing his PhD in 1996 on Acid Sulfate Soils, Dr Wilson’s research interests have been varied and include the Landholder’s perception of soil quality with research ranging from nutrient cycling in wetlands, by pass flow analysis in grey water treatment systems, wetland functional assessment, soil classification, and the development of an Australian system of agriculture.
