CSU GST Refund on Student Facilities Service Fee (SFSF)

Charles Sturt University has been advised the Student Facilities Service Fee (SFSF) charged between 1st December 2000 and 31st December 2005 is consideration for a GST-Free supply.

CSU ceased charging the 10% Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the SFSF from 1st January 2006; however students who paid the SFSF for the periods ending prior to this are entitled to a refund from the GST portion on the fee.

After consultation with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) it has been agreed:

If you are a current student of CSU and you are entitled to a refund, it will be automatically credited to your student account, and you will receive an official E-box message from CSU

If you were a CSU student during any part of 1st December 2000 and 31st December 2005 and you paid the SFSF, but you are not a current student, you can claim your GST refund, net of any amounts owing to CSU (see instructions below)
