About | Getting Started | Writing & Editing | How to Publish
Staff and students of the University are able to publish their own personal homepage to accommodate materials that are strictly personal and which are not subject to the Universitys quality assurances procedures and practices.
While personal homepages reside on CSU servers, they do not form part of the official CSU web site and the procedures required to obtain and publish to a personal site are different from those for official pages.
By publishing personal pages to a CSU server, you are subject to the following conditions:-
You are not allowed to publish any commercial information (e.g advertising, pages you write for someone else, etc)
You must comply to the CSU Policy for the use of University Computing and Communication Facilities.
Before you can publish your personal page, you will need to establish an account on a CSU server. As it may take several days for your account to be created, and for space to be established on the server, it is advisable to apply for your access as far in advance as possible.
The quickest and easiest way to obtain your account is online. The following link will provide you with a form "Request for Access for Personal Web Publishing." This link is also available in the IT Services Section within my.csu
You can also request account access by calling the IT Service Desk.

You will be notified by email when your access has been activated.
You can use the editing tool of your choice to produce web pages. People use a variety of "web page editors" such as Dreamweaver and Microsoft Frontpage.
When your web pages are complete, you need to upload them to the web server . You need to use a software program called a "file transfer protocol tool" (FTP) to do this.
If you are working on a CSU computer, you can use a standard application called WS_FTP. Alternatively, many HTML editors have their own file transfer tools that can be be used to upload your completed pages.
You can download a copy of WS_FTP by clicking here. The file is a self-extracting Zip file.Run the program and accept the defaults, then access the program from the start button.
If you are using WS_FTP, step by step instructions on how to publish at CSU can be accessed here.
If you are using another file transfer program, you will need to refer to the help documentation with that software.
Once you have transferred your files to the server, check the site on the public server to ensure your changes have been successfully made. (Choose the "Refresh" button to reload the page.)
