About
A myriad of calendars and events relevant to CSU have been made available in one central authoritative source in CSU | WHEN.
CSU | WHEN v1.0 will assist by
- allowing you to find key events and their details;
- allowing you to see conflicting dates and possible clashes, institution-wide and in one location when you are planning an event; and
- providing a standard presentation format for CSU key events.
CSU | WHEN provides key event information organised by 'event groups'. Currently it presents the event details in list view (using Microsoft Excel) and print versions where available (in Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, etc format/s). In its current form, it is a relatively non-interactive site with manual update processes - but a step in the right direction. Future iterations may include:-
- Search – free text search box that retrieves key event details in a results page from a database [view Search mock up .pdf].
- More views – enabling some new technologies with our event data will allow us to provide new automatically updated views with things like Google Calendar, and the MIT timeline view [http://simile.mit.edu/timeline/]. It will also allow us to ‘build’ views in various formats depending on your need (eg MS Excel, Project, PDF etc).
- RSS – provide the users of CSU | WHEN with subscription functionality to allow automatically updated summary information so that they are aware of changes to events that impact them.
- Management functionality – introduction of roles based system to allow event managers to login, manage and change their event details and pass it through a QA workflow before publishing.
- Event driven systems and applications – based around this event hub, applications and messages can be triggered from this system. This is instead of manually changing application code in multiple systems.
If you would like your section/committee calendar included in CSU | WHEN (these might also be key dates that CSU may be reliant upon but not under our control), please complete the CSU | WHEN Submission Template and forward by email to Lorraine Stephens of DIT: lstephens@csu.edu.au.
Please do not hesitate to contact Lorraine with any queries or feedback you may have regarding CSU | WHEN.
