Introduction of Screwcap Wine Seals

Charles Sturt University winery is now committed to using screw cap seals on its entire range of white and red wines to reduce the risk of oxidation and taint. Independent research supports our belief that the screw cap wine seal is the most appropriate high quality closure for our premium wines. Further research and trials are being carried out on the use of screw cap seals for our red wine range.

We believe that the use of a screw cap seal is the best way of ensuring that our premium wines get to you in the best possible condition and remain that way throughout cellaring.

Screw cap wine seals allow the wine to develop in the bottle without any extraneous influences (e.g. cork taint) while retaining the true characters of the wine as intended by the winemaker. Charles Sturt University wines with screw cap seals from the 1977 and 1978 vintages remain in excellent condition in the teaching cellars of the Wine and Food Science School.

The romance of opening a bottle of wine is enhanced by being able to quickly and simply remove the seal. You will not need to divert attention from your companion or companions by struggling with or not having a corkscrew. You will not lose the moment by pouring tainted or oxidized wine.
