R is a free powerful open source programming language for statistical computing, data analysis and graphical visualisation that operates on all operating systems. Among R's strengths are its built-in tools for inferential statistics, its compact modelling syntax and its data visualisation capabilities - it produces fully-customisable, publication-quality graphics that are superior to most other software. In addition, R's open source nature and its add-on "packages" have allowed it to keep up with the leading edge in academic research. For all its strengths, though, R has an admittedly steep learning curve; the first steps towards learning and using R can be challenging.

To this end, the combined R Operators of Wagga (an R user's group) has been formed and is dedicated to bringing together R users to exchange knowledge, inspire new users, and spur the adoption of R for innovative research and commercial applications. All research candidates and other staff and students are very welcome to attend these meetings which will take place simultaneously online and face-to-face in Wagga Wagga.

Our cRow meetings vary from month to month, they are usually held on a Monday or Friday, dates and times will be advised on the QCU home page.

  • hear talks on R-related topics
  • sharing knowledge and experience
  • provide R beginners with an opportunity to meet more experienced users
  • support one another to learn how to use R effectively and efficiently

This group is for anyone that is currently using R, trying to learn how to use R or someone that thinks that R might provide a solution to their data analysis needs. If you are interested in finding out more about cRow, please contact David Luckett or John Xie. If you would like to be notified of when our cRow meetings are on please contact me and I will add you to our emailing list.
