CIS Australia Internship program

The CISaustralia Internship program is a university wide opportunity for students to undertake a professional placement/internship in a Malaysian based company.

Malaysia provides a unique experience to students from almost all discipline areas. As well as its beaches and holiday destinations it is renowned for its diversity of cultures, well developed infrastructure, investment opportunities and advanced technologies. Its 'Vision 2020' plan shows that the country is committed to becoming a major powerhouse not only in the Asian region, but around the world.

The opportunity for you to gain a diverse experience through an internship placement in Malaysia is incredibly unique. The district has become a melting pot for high achieving professionals from around the world. Not only will you learn about your discipline area, you'll also have the opportunity to experience firsthand the skills required to work in a truly multinational workforce as well as develop your professional networks.

CISaustralia will work with you to customise an internship/work placement to match your particular needs, under guidelines set by your School. Placements will be of a minimum three week duration (preferably 4-5) and must count towards academic recognition in your current CSU degree.

Details of internship/placement opportunities available through CISaustralia are available on the CISaustralia website.

This program is funded by the Australian Government's Colombo Plan Funding through the Department of Education. CSU recognises the support of the Australian Government in providing targeted funds which have subsidised the cost of this opportunity to students.

Program Dates: Various dates and duration commencing in July, 2017*

*Please note the duration of your program may require you to be off-campus in the first weeks of Session 2, 2017. Students must liaise with their Subject Coordinators to to determine what the academic implications of studying offshore at that period of time will be.

Number of Places: Unspecified

Eligibility: You must be enrolled in a CSU degree at the time of placement and have a GPA of 4.5 at the time of submitting your application. To be eligible for New Colombo Plan funding you must be an undergraduate student aged between 18 and 28 years of age, an Australian citizen (not residing in Malaysia) and must be obtaining academic recognition for your participation in this program.

Academic Information: Students must liaise directly with their Course Director to obtain academic recognition.  Such recognition must be awarded for a minimum of three week's (90 hours) placement/internship.

Financial Assistance: Program participants may be eligible to receive financial assistance through the Australian Government's New Colombo Plan. Eligibility is restricted to Australian Citizens aged between 18 and 28 years of age, enrolled in an Undergraduate degree and receiving academic recognition for their program participation. There are five subsidies available. Upon receipt of travel documentation - the specifics of which will be outlined in successful notification of application - CSU Global will award eligible students funding valued at AUD$3000.

Students may also be eligible to receive financial assistance through the Australian Government's OS-HELP loan. OS-HELP is a loan available to eligible Commonwealth Supported students who want to undertake some of their study overseas. OS-HELP can be used for a range of expenses such as airfares, accommodation, and other travel or study expenses.

Eligibility for OS-HELP will be assessed once successful students are selected and is based on a number of criteria.  Acceptance into a CSU Global program does not guarantee eligibility for the loan. Please note, you cannot pay your program deposit through OS-HELP.

All funding associated with CSU Global programs (travel grants, scholarships, subsidies and loans) is linked to successful completion of academic and program expectations. Failure to meet these requirements may result in funding being revoked.

Refer to CSU Global's Scholarships and Funding webpage for further information on OS-HELP.
