Grade Pending (GP)
If illness or other issues prevent you from completing assignments, assessments or placements by the end of session, you may apply for Special Consideration.
If approved by the Head of School, a Grade Pending (GP) will be awarded and you will be given an extension of time to submit assessable work and a date by which that work must be submitted. Normally the GP grade will need to be converted to a substantive grade no later than 12 months after the end of the session in which the GP was granted.
This option is well worth remembering because it can mean the difference between salvaging the subject and ending up with a Pass rather than a Fail grade.
How to apply
You can apply for an extension of time beyond the end of session using the Application for Special Consideration.
Your application must be well supported by documentary evidence. If you are applying for an extension of time because of illness, you will also need to submit the Student Medical Certificate [PDF] form which needs to be filled out by a medical practitioner.
Deadlines for submission
Apply for special consideration as soon as possible after the circumstances have occurred.
