The telephony service at CSU includes:

Workspace Telephones

CSU workspace telephones use VoIP technology to send phone calls over our data networks.

Standard and enhanced workspace telephones as well as headsets and conference telephones are available through the CSU Computer Shop.

Your workspace telephone:

  • Allows you to login (using your extension number and PIN) to any VoIP telephone in any CSU location
  • Integrates with email to receive voicemails
  • Allows you to login and logout using a PIN to prevent unauthorised usage
  • Makes your current presence information available
  • Allows you to route calls to various destinations (e.g. mobile)
  • Includes caller ID, speaker phone, a headset port and an easy to read screen display with telephone number, date and time
  • Allows you to call 1300 or 1800 numbers as well as long distance and international numbers
  • Integrates with optional software (Interaction Desktop for staff and Interaction Supervisor for Call Centre Managers) to provide extra functionality

Workspace telephones cannot be used during power outages. You must use an emergency phone or a mobile phone to make calls during these times. Find emergency phones located in and outside of buildings and use to call 000 during a power outage.

Telephone Software

Interaction Desktop software can be integrated with your workspace telephone. The software provides extra call management features including:

  • Phone call, call queues and directories management
  • Call History Management
  • Unified Messaging
  • Interaction Fax and Soft phone capabilities
  • Automatic Call Distributor (ACD) – call queue functionality, speed dial directories and conference calls
  • Presence management

For those who want to access call control functions via the web, you can use Interaction Connect through Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) or by using CSU computers on the CSU network either on campus or via Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Interaction Client Business Manager software for call centre managers is also available.

Security Telephones

Security phones are located in and outside of buildings and used to ‘direct dial’ CSU campus security.
