    The majority of the works were completed over the 2016/2017 session break to minimise disruption to staff and students.

Orange Hub Refurbishment


The refurbishment will give students all weather access to the LC Building 1005 and Building 1000, including additional 24/7 casual and eating space within building 1000 plus the comfort of HVAC.

Design Features

The redevelopment of the covered walkway between buildings 1000 and 1005 will provide an all weather link to the surrounding buildings, including the provision of a compliance ramp and steps, along with auto door access.

In addition to these works, there will also be:

  • Upgrade/refurbish the public amenities located at the front of building 1005.
  • Create additional 24/7 casual study/eating space for students in building 1000 including the installation of HVAC to the building.

Sustainability Features

This project will incorporate the the following sustainability features:

  • The installation of new LED lighting,
  • Installation of a BMS for the new HVAC installation.
  • Installation of R3.0 insulation to all new ceilings within the project.

Progress report

The majority of the works were  completed over the 2016/17 session break with a handover of the Stage 2 works in late March 2017.

Further design issues resulted in additional works being carried out over the 2017/18 session break.
