Cashing out annual leave

If you're facing financial hardship, you may request a lump sum payment instead of taking annual leave.

Financial hardship

If you're experiencing financial hardship, you can speak with your supervisor about the possibility of cashing out some annual leave.

This is designed to be a one-off process as the intent of annual leave is to give you a break from work to rejuvenate.  You won't get this if you cash out leave on more than one occasion.

Amount to cash out

You can ask for any amount of annual leave to be cashed out, as long as you keep a balance of at least four weeks. You can check your annual leave balance using Web Kiosk

Cashing out to reduce leave balance

A supervisor can't ask you to cash out some of your leave to reduce your leave balance. Only individual employees dealing with financial hardship can request a cash out.

Applying for a cash out

Complete the annual leave form and nominate the date you'd like the cash out to take place.

Approval

The Faculty Administration Manager, Faculty Technical Manager or a delegate from Band 6 or above must authorise any cash out.

More information

In the event of any discrepancy between this website and the Enterprise Agreement or Leave Manual, the terms of the Agreement or Policy will prevail.
