Rubrics

A Rubric can be used to communicate the assignment requirements and acceptable performance standards to students. Interact2  rubrics allows you to mark assessments online and have the feedback and grade automatically recorded in Grade Centre.

Interact2 rubrics can be used to mark discussion boards, blogs, journals and wikis.  A rubric can also be associated with other  Grade Centre columns.

How to Create a Rubric

You can create a rubric from the control panel or add it to tools in the creation or editing process.

To create a rubric from the Control Panel in Interact2:

  1. Expand the Course Tools section and click Rubrics.
  2. On the Rubrics page, click Create Rubric on the action bar.
  3. Type a name and optionally, provide a description of the rubric to make it easier to associate it to relevant assignments.
  4. Edit the rubric grid.
  5. Click Submit.

How to Attach a Rubric

You can attach a Rubric to the following tools:

  • Essay, Short Answer, and File Response test questions
  • Blogs and Journals
  • Wikis
  • Discussion Board forums and threads

In the creation or editing process of these tools you select 'Grade' and then 'Add Rubric'.  The picture is an example for the blog tool.

Display Rubrics to Students

The rubric is not automatically shown to students, by associating the rubric to the task you make it available to them.

Once you have added a rubric you are able to select 4 options for rubric visibility:

Rubric for students

  • No Students cannot view the rubric
  • Yes (With Rubric Scores) student can view the rubric, including possible point or percentage values.
  • Yes (Without Rubric Scores) student can view the rubric, but does not including possible point or percentage values..
  • After Grading allows students to view the rubric only after grading on their submission is completed.

Note:  The rubric will only be available to students when marks are available in the grade column.
