Leave without pay
Staff may apply for leave without pay for a range of reasons, including family responsibilities and illness.
Applying for leave without pay
To apply, you'll need to complete the leave without pay form in our customer service portal. The form must be approved by a Band 5 delegate.
Break in service
Leave without pay is recognised as service, as long as it doesn't exceed two months per calendar year. This means it will count towards salary progression and you will continue to accrue other forms of leave.
You'll need to meet all your superannuation fund's obligations during a period of leave without pay.
Reason for leave without pay
If you're requesting leave without pay you may need to provide a reason. The University may also request supporting documentation.
