  • Our Data Analysts have been working on building a new Course Review Tool. The tool is currently in a prototype stage with Faculty working groups trialling the prototype. Contact us for more information on this product.

  •  The SPI Business Glossary has been reviewed and updated.

  • Change to Campus Classifications - In the majority of SPI products campuses are classified in into three groups, Main, Other and Third Party. Due to changes in the way TEQSA considers third party arrangements, SPI has reviewed how each campus is classified and made one change as a result, the reclassification of North Sydney Institute from Other to Third Party. This change will be rolled out across SPI products as they are updated. You can select the campus group in our pivots by dragging the Campus Type field into the Filters, and then select the group you want to view.

TEQSA's recent report Characteristics of Australian higher education providers and their relation to first-year student attrition provides an analysis of attrition from a new perspective. Typically analyses of attrition have focussed on student characteristics and behaviour, often seeking to identify and mitigate risk factors. TEQSA's analysis focuses on the identifying the characteristics of institutions which are related to higher rates of student attrition. The analysis has found that there are four broad groups of institutions, and the group with the lowest levels of attrition are the public universities which are typically characterised by larger student bodies and more senior and research active staff.
