Student Experience Survey

The focus of the Student Experience Survey (SES) is on understanding the student experience through measuring the levels of engagement and satisfaction of current higher education undergraduate students in Australia.

The SES, formerly administered as the University Experience Survey (UES), was in its fifth year in 2016, with participating institutions including Table A and Table B universities and extending to non-university higher education institutions.

The SES is part of the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) survey suite, commissioned by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training.  The Social Research Centre is working with higher education providers and key stakeholders to administer the SES. SES fieldwork runs during the month of August.

The SES focuses on measuring the following:

  • Overall quality of educational experience
  • Teaching quality
  • Learner engagement
  • Learning resources
  • Student support
  • Skills development.
