Critical Thinking – A Philosophical Approach

    This second subject on critical thinking adopts a philosophical framework. You’ll learn how to evaluate the truth of claims and the quality of reasons more broadly.

    It will enable you to delve more deeply into foundational and current thinking around your subject in order to develop a nuanced approach to analysis. You’ll work through a range of examples with your subject coordinator and undertake activities to develop your critical thinking practice.

    Topics include:

    • how to adopt a critical approach to reading in order to identify points, arguments and sources
    • how to critically evaluate information, sources and claims
    • identifying credible and relevant sources
    • participating in debates and developing arguments using evidence and critical thought.
