This subject introduces students to research strategies and methodologies suitable for the communication and creative industries, leading to the development of their own research proposal. It deepens exploration of critical lines of inquiry in communication and creative fields, and demonstrates how they manifest in methodological design. Students engage with ethical considerations of human research and institutional ethics approval processes.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to critically evaluate research principles and research methods applicable to the fields of communication and creative industries;
  • be able to critically and systematically assess issues or problems and justify appropriate research strategies; and
  • be able to design and present a research strategy for a complex contemporary question or problem in communication or creative fields.
