The purpose of this subject is to develop an awareness of and the skills applicable to managing people from a cross-cultural perspective. Key areas include communication, leadership and motivation, culture, negotiation, decision making, global alliances, emerging economies, applied ethics and social responsibility. The subject then examines how these factors influence managing people within a global business.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to evaluate cross cultural management in the context of global changes;
  • be able to evaluate and explain how the variables of culture interact with other national and international factors to affect managerial processes and behaviour; and
  • be able to analyse and explain issues relevant to corporate social responsibility, sustainability and ethics while operating in global locations.

  • Understanding the nature and role of culture in a HRM context
