REC211 Outdoor Recreation Field Skills 4 (8)

REC211 is a subject that builds on the skills and knowledge obtained in REC210. Students will further develop their outdoor recreation leadership and field skills, and will become proficient in outdoor recreation program design and development. Students will take on lead guide roles in various outdoor recreation activities. The subject will also investigate topics such as: legal issues, workplace safety, wilderness first aid and emergency care. Specialised training in various outdoor recreation activities will be an intrinsic part of the subject.

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

  • be able to design, develop and implement a range of outdoor recreation activities

  • be able to demonstrate environmental awareness in relation to outdoor recreation activities
  • be able to coordinate emergency response and to apply search and rescue skills
