Engagement Funding


The aim of Engagement Funding is to assist Graham Centre members engage with industry and key stakeholders. Engagement funding will enable members to travel and meet with industry as part of developing industry grants and strengthening partnerships. It may also be used to provide some funding towards attending events where industry engagement – rather than research presentation – is the focus.

Important dates

Applications are accepted throughout the year, however travel must be completed by 30 November of the funding year.

Please allow four weeks for your application to be considered.


In their application, Members must provide a detailed description of costs for the proposed engagement activity. Each application will be assessed by the relevant Research Pathway Leader and the Centre Director.


Who can apply?

Funding is only available to Full and Associate Members of the Graham Centre. Please refer to the Centre's Membership Policy.

Applicants may make more than one application for Engagement Funding in a calendar year.

Guidelines for application

  • Applicants must provide clearly defined aims and expected outcomes of attending the engagement activity.
  • Funding is not available for conference registration costs. Please apply through our Conference Support Scheme.
  • Applications must be submitted on the Engagement Funding Application Form and should include additional supporting documentation, where applicable.

Other information

  • All expenditure must be finalised prior to 30 November of the funding year. Unspent funds cannot be carried forward into the next year.
  • For Charles Sturt staff, all travel bookings must be made through CSU Travel.
  • Non-Charles Sturt staff and NSW DPI applicants should follow the appropriate process of approval and booking travel for their organisation. Travel arrangements must be approved prior to travel
  • Privately arranged travel costs will not be reimbursed
  • Successful applicants are invited to make a short presentation at a Graham Centre Morning Tea to share their experience
  • Within four weeks of the completion of your engagement activity, successful applicants are required to submit a report detailing the outcomes of your travel and the final expenditure. Please use the online Report Form below.

Criteria for assessment

  1. Activity is closely linked to the Centre's Research Pathways
  2. All reports from previous funding have been received, and any conditions met
  3. The applicant has added value to the Graham Centre following prior Engagement Funding or other funding support
  4. Number of prior successful applications for Engagement Funding.
