Vietnamese delegation takes in Riverina agriculture
Riverina agricultural production, research and innovation was highlighted when members of the Vietnam-Australia Agricultural Forum (VAAF) visited the region this week.
Vietnam is Australia's seventh largest market for agriculture, fisheries and forestry exports, valued at $2.18 billion in 2016-17. The Forum aims to strengthen the bilateral agricultural relationship between the two nations.
During a field visit hosted by the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, the Vietnamese delegates gained an insight into research at the Graham Centre for Agricultural Innovation at Charles Sturt University (CSU) in Wagga Wagga.
Along with its research in Australian farming systems, the Graham Centre is involved in a number of research programs in Vietnam to improve the sustainability of farming int he Mekong Delta.
While in Wagga Wagga, the delegation also toured the CSU farm and spent the morning at the sheep sale at the Livestock Marketing Centre.
