Associate Professor Shokoofeh Shamsi

Election to the University Council

Graham Centre member, Associate Professor Shokoofeh Shamsi has been elected to the Charles Sturt University (CSU) Council. The Council is the governing board of the University, responsible for the proper stewardship and strategic direction of CSU. Professor Shamsi began her two-year term on the Council in July.

Professor Shamsi has also been awarded a CSU Senior Research Fellowship for her research focused on parasites, especially those causing diseases in humans and animals.

More research fellowships

Graham Centre member Professor Jade Forwood was also awarded a Senior Research Fellowship, his research interests are medical biochemistry, molecular biology and pharmacology. Dr Lihong Zheng was also awarded a Research Fellowship.

PhD student success

Cara Wilson receiving her awardPhD candidate Ms Cara Wilson picked up the prize for the best student presentation at the Australian Society of Animal Production annual conference in July. Ms Wilson is researching the impact of hydatid disease on the Australian beef industry.

Graham Centre PhD candidate Mrs Forough Ataollahi is one of three finalists in the NSW International Student Awards for 2018 in the Higher Education category. The ceremony for the awards will be held on Tuesday 25 September.

PhD candidate Ms Shumaila Arif and Mr Shafi Sahibzada have submitted their research and are expected to graduate in December.

Shafaet Hossen successfully completed his EoC in July 2018 for his project, Molecular characterisation of selected parasites from commercially important fish in south-eastern region of Australia.
