ILWS Open Access Publication Support Scheme
ILWS members may now apply for funding contributions to open access publication fees up to a maximum of $5000 for any one paper. The purpose of this scheme is to give more visibility to our research publications and raise the external profile of ILWS.
To be eligible for this funding, the following criteria must be met.
- The lead (first) author of the manuscript must be a full, associate or student ILWS member.
- The topic of the manuscript must align with at least one of ILWS’s research themes.
- Only journals listed on the most recent ERA list are eligible for this scheme. https://www.arc.gov.au/excellence-research-australia/era-2018-journal-list
- Journals should have a Q1 rating in the relevant discipline area according to the Scimago Journal Rank. Exceptions may be made for Q2 journals with appropriate justification. https://www.scimagojr.com/
- Where faculty or other available schemes offer similar open access publication support funding, applicants must show evidence that such schemes have been similarly applied to. An equal co-contribution from available faculty publications support schemes should be sought.
- Papers must acknowledge ILWS for the funds provided, e.g. “Charles Sturt University’s Institute for Land, Water and Society provided financial support to enable publication of this paper”.
Once a paper has been accepted, a successful applicant will provide a publisher’s invoice made out to Charles Sturt University. This invoice should contain all required payment information, and be submitted to the ILWS Business team for payment (ilws@csu.edu.au). Where partial funding is offered, the applicant agrees to cover the balance of publishing costs. Funds will only be paid direct to the publisher. Funds will not be reimbursed to the applicant.
A nominal annual budget allocation has been made to this scheme and therefore total annual funding is limited; lower funding levels may be necessary at any particular time.
