Rural and Regional Communities
Institute researchers have been engaged to evaluate and develop a program model for the Orange City Council’s “Spark a Connection” program.
The program, which initially ran for six weeks in October/November 2019, was designed to provide people living with dementia the opportunity to explore their artistic side with guided tours of the Orange Regional Gallery and to promote memory and storytelling through guided tours of the Orange Regional Museum. Additional six week sessions commenced in March 2019 and have been expanded to include more hands-on art making and interaction.
The expected outcome of this evaluation is a robust program model for a program that could be adapted for delivery elsewhere in rural and regional Australia to benefit older people living with dementia and their carers.
