Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
* Practice professional health work that is culturally safe, holistic and which maintains personal and client integrity * Demonstrate an awareness of the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and societies, caucasian and multicultural populations and the health problems particular to this group of people * Demonstrate an ability to integrate knowledge from previous subjects thus ensuring holistic practice * Discuss the National Aboriginal Health Worker Competency Standards as they relate to a beginning practitioner * Discuss issues for health workers related to professional registration and affiliations. * Demonstrate an ability to utilise principles of reflective practice to address self-learning needs * Utilise the skills of leadership to demonstrate management, supervisory and group forming and maintaining skills * Recognise the importance of their role as responsible, accountable and professional health practitioners * Acquire strategies for effective time management * Discuss trends in the Australian society which may impact on their role as health care professionals * Utilise collaborative and leadership skills to function effectively as part of a health care team * Critically evaluate research pertaining to their learning needs within an identified area of nursing practice * Demonstrate and ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for clients

Residential SchoolThis subject contains a compulsory 10 day residential school.
Residentials will provide students with intensive support with lectures and tutorials providing the students with enough support to achieve satisfactory subject performance outcomes.
