EED408 Successful Teaching (8)

Abstract

This subject will focus on the practice of teaching. The subject will allow students to engage with key ideas about teaching and how it improves with practice and reflection. Students will have opportunities to identify the range of strategies commonly employed in classrooms and review how, when, where and why various teaching strategies are used. The subject will also introduce students to a set of core teaching strategies. Students will trial and evaluate their own use of core teaching strategies; and align core teaching strategies to the specificities of the classrooms in which they are working and the content of their teaching. The core strategies in which students will gain experience include introducing, questioning, explaining, providing feedback, and discussion.

This subject will enable students to extend and refine their knowledge and skills developed in the first year of their teacher education course.
