Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to describe the operation of a range of information agencies and how these interact with their users;
- be able to discuss the range and variety of information agencies and the services they offer; and
- reflect upon how these operations fit with what has been learnt through formal coursework.

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics:
- Overview of a variety of libraries and information organisations
- Provides the link between practice and classroom learning.

Work Place LearningThis subject contains a Compulsory Workplace Learning component of 4 days duration.
Students visit a range of information environments (ie libraries, archives, records management organisations) where the staff share with students the services, collections and facilities offered by that particular organisation. Students reflect on their experience and discuss this in a formal report.
