- be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of central ethical theories
- be able to apply their skills of analysis and argument and their understanding of theories to the clarification and resolution of the particular practical moral problems/issues addressed in the Syllabus

SyllabusThe subject will cover the following topics:
- Philosophical Theory a) The analysis and evaluation of philosophical arguments concerning the practical problems addressed. b) The appreciation and evaluation of central ethical theories applied to the practical problems addressed.
- Applications - Practical moral problems/issues concerning the beginning or ending of human life, including abortion, research on embryos, infanticide, euthanasia.
