The aim of this subject is to enable students to understand the installation, configuration and maintenance of a mail server. Topics covered include installation methods, upgrading from previous versions and configuring and managing different types of email clients. The subject also teaches students how to connect to other mail server products and details ways of securing a mail server.

- be able to monitor and tune mail server performance; and
- be able to backup and restore a mail server after a disaster.
