In this CSU-TPC subject, students learn the skills and knowledge required to solve every day and work related mathematical problems using mensuration in two and three dimensions including areas and volumes, similarity of two-dimensional figures, linear and non-linear functions and spherical geometry, trigonometry and introductory algebra.
Students also learn the skills and knowledge required to understand how statistics are used in real-world situations. Students will learn how to analyse and compare univariate data sets using measures of centre and measures of spread; examine and describe relationships between bivariate data sets using correlation and make predictions using linear regression.
Students also work with others to gather research information to support a group research project and create appropriate electronic presentations of the project findings.
