This subject extends the student's knowledge of vascular and neurological pathology as it relates to the practice of podiatry. The study of neurology comprises central nervous system disorders such as stroke, dementia and Parkinson's disease, and students will evaluate the physical, psychological and social impact of these conditions. Analysis of the impact of peripheral neurological and vascular pathology on lower limb structure and function, will focus attention on the impact of disease on a person's wellbeing and functional ability. The complex interrelationship between physical and mental health is explored in this subject and the misuse of alcohol and other drugs is also considered.
