A professional experience placement in a secondary school setting of up to 20 days as required for accreditation and approved by the Course Director.
This subject provides teacher education students with the opportunity to commence exploring the relationship between practical and disciplinary knowledge of teaching. They will do this in preparation for, and during a professional experience teaching placement of up to 20 days (as required by accreditation requirements and approved by the Course Director). As they complete the preparatory phase of the subject, teacher education students will engage with issues of teaching and learning, classroom and behaviour management, planning and assessment. Workplace Health and Safety and risk management in the teaching and learning environment will also be a focus. There is an expectation that teacher education students will ensure their developing understandings of appropriate curriculum, and adolescence and social justice issues, are reflected in the teaching placements undertaken in secondary school contexts.
