In this subject students undertake self-directed study towards the generation of an individual future work or study plan with potential to create materials and content for portfolio use. Students are required to explore and critique their current research and professional interests and consider how as emergent professionals they can maximise their individual impact in existing, emergent, future or speculative professions. This subject embraces the broad nature of each students' learning and provides a foundation for life-long learning.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:

  • be able to critically evaluate and speculate on the future of their discipline/s; and

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • Creative industries in the Twenty-First century: Globalisation, ethics, sustainability and beyond
  • Creative industries as an economic and innovation sector
  • Speculating on the future of the creative industries
  • Skills for the creative professional: applied business, management, communication and leadership
  • Funding & grant applications, the gig economy and current industry opportunities
  • Aspiration identification: designing future work or study plans
  • Developing and communicating an independent creative professional identity
  • Transdisciplinarity and entrepreneurship
