This subject expands upon the fundamental theories and pedagogy of teaching languages other than English (LOTE) developed in EML451, with a particular focus on teaching Stage 6 senior students. It is concerned with the development of the LOTE program to meet syllabus demands in the context of broader educational, community and social issues. It focuses on developing greater cross-cultural awareness and intercultural competence through consideration of key concepts in intercultural communication and key issues in languages pedagogy through a 'language as culture' perspective.
