Management theories are contextualised to health service governance structures and processes and their application there is considered at organisational and team levels and against different management contexts and goals. Emphasis is placed on business case writing as a key object of management practice.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to critically analyse prominent management theories, contextualising them to health service governance structures and practices;
  • be able to discuss personal strengths and opportunities for improvement regarding team and organisational management; and
  • be able to develop a persuasive business case.

Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:
  • TOPIC 1: Management theory;
  • TOPIC 2: Team management skills; and
  • TOPIC 3: Business case writing contextualised to health management and leadership.
