This subject aims to enhance students understanding of the common skills that all ICT professionals must possess as specified by the Australian Computer Society in their Core Body of Knowledge (ACS CBOK). Students will develop an understanding of core CBOK knowledge areas. This includes problem solving skills, teamwork, ethics, professionalism and interpersonal communication. The knowledge and skills gained from this subject will help students to launch a successful career post-graduation.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to identify and articulate the knowledge and skills required for successful IT professionals;
  • be able to evaluate job search strategies and methods to identify appropriate IT job opportunities;
  • be able to synthesise the knowledge gained from academic learning in readiness for application in the workplace;
  • be able to analyse complex information to devise solutions to a range of problems within the IT workplace; and
  • be able to evaluate and interpret Australian workplace legislation, including Workplace Health and Safety regulations.
