Students undertake pre-clinical practical activities (required for professional registration) using onsite radiopharmacy laboratory equipment.
This subject presents the principles associated with Radiopharmacy practice. Students develop an understanding of and ability to apply knowledge and skills in legislative, theoretical and the practical concepts of Radiopharmacy. Students explore and apply principles of radiation safety, safe radiopharmacy practice, biological and chemical properties of radiopharmaceuticals, radiopharmacy calculations, quality assurance and pre-clinical applications. Students undertake practicals for skill development in radiation safety, radionuclide generator elution, radiopharmaceutical reconstitution, dose dispensing, and radiopharmacy quality control.
