    Master of Medical Ultrasound

    Applicants will:

    Prospective students will be assessed on a case-by-case basis with additional subjects recommended if there is a gap in their assumed knowledge and to fulfil the AQF guidelines for a level 9 course.

    Applicants will:

    Prospective students will be assessed on a case-by-case basis with additional subjects recommended if there is a gap in their assumed knowledge and to fulfil the AQF guidelines for a level 9 course. 

    Credit CSU Credit Policy

    Master of Medical Ultrasound

    Credit will be given to students who have relevant postgraduate equivalent qualifications. However, this will be assessed on an individual basis.

    Graduate Diploma of Medical Ultrasound

    Credit will be given to students who have relevant postgraduate equivalent qualifications. However, this will be assessed on an individual basis.

    Articulation

    The Master and the Graduate Diploma make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower.

    Master of Medical Ultrasound

    To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 96 points.

    Graduate Diploma of Medical Ultrasound

    To graduate students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.

    Articulation agreements

    Charles Sturt University has entered into an agreement with the Australian School of Medical Imaging to provide a pathway for entry for students into the CSU courses, as well as providing a mechanism for independent clinical examination of the students sonographic skills.

    The ASMI satisfies the Academic Senate's policy regarding Institutional Articulation Agreements (Academic Manual - Section E3).

    A further agreement has been entered into with the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine where students who have completed their Diploma of Medical Ultrasonography will be eligible for up to 50% credit in the Masters of Medical Ultrasound course.

    Professional recognition

    The courses are accredited by the Australasian Sonographers Accreditation Registry (ASAR) until 2012. Sonographers must have undertaken an accredited qualification in order to be eligible for the status of Accredited Medical Sonographer (AMS). Student sonographers undertaking an accredited course are eligible to enter the Register as Accredited Student Sonographer (ASS). The Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care requires sonographers performing ultrasound examinations on behalf of medical practitioners to be accredited as part of the Medicare Benefits Schedule regulations.
