ACC543 Principles of Casemix Funding and Costing (8)

Abstract

The subject is designed to give students an understanding of the principles of costing in the Australian health care industry. It will provide a coherent, comprehensive coverage of the issues involved in costing in a multi-faceted environment. It will provide an overview and understanding of the skills and knowledge currently demanded of accounting personnel working within Australia's health care industry

- An overview of the Australian Health Care System.
- Current microeconomic reform in the health care sector.
- Performance measurement: the basis for controlling costs and quality.
- Management theory and practice: management techniques and practice.
- Strategic planning and financial management.
- Use of the casemix classification system.
- Information and the organisation of health services.
- The impact of DRGs: their future in Australian Health Care.
