EEB432 Learning and Teaching Through Text in Adult and Vocational Education (8)

Abstract

This subject is designed to introduce students to teaching through the use of text including the specific teaching of grammar and the mechanics of writing. It develops skills and knowledge in the area of text analysis and explores the nature and structure of grammar and text. This subject enables students to develop their understanding of the linguistic demands of teaching and learning in the field of adult and vocational education.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
  • be able to articulate the function of grammar and organisation of text within the adult and vocational education context;
  • be able to articulate how language is represented through text and how meaning is constructed through the writing process;
  • be able to articulate how text is used to organize information in ways appropriate and relevant to its context ; and
  • be able to develop skills and knowledge in the critical analysis of text within the adult and vocational education context.
