ETL411 ICT for Innovative Practice (8)
Abstract|
This subject introduces students to ideas and experiences related to the curriculum integration of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to enhance student learning. Students explore the knowledge, skills, and information capabilities representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. A range of topics is examined, including new and emerging technologies; ICT integration issues and priorities; information fluency and knowledge management approaches; and the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to facilitate and inspire creative use of ICT in the curriculum. |

Learning OutcomesUpon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of the critical role of ICT for competent and effective participation in a global knowledge-based society;
- be able to provide evidence of personal skill development in the use of ICT tools and online environments;
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of the pedagogical innovations that ICT brings in enabling a learner-centred approach using appropriate digital tools and resources;
- be able to model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments;
- be able to provide continuing strategic direction about the impact of ICT on the development of information fluency skills and attributes;
- be able to facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning;
- be able to demonstrate an understanding of the impact of ICT on the role of the school's information specialist and/or information leaders, and the impact of ICT on information service provision in schools; and
- be able to demonstrate a vision of technology infusion by developing the leadership and technology skills of others.

- Authentic learning and problem solving strategies using digital tools and resources
- Learning with ICT to engage student creativity
- Evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice in the use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources to support student learning.
