Abstract

The subject has been designed to support reflection and appropriate action by leaders of large-scale, globally-dispersed service businesses. To support this reflection, relevant theories and research are related to current and projected issues in leading business innovation at different stages of evolution in the organisation's portfolio of businesses. The key outcome from this subject is an understanding of how creative process and value-add solutions can be developed to achieve desired business results in competitive service markets.

Upon successful completion of this subject, participants should;have an enhanced capacity to lead business innovation within large, functionally diverse and geographically dispersed organisations and to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the concepts and theories impacting business innovation.demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the impact of innovation on the four stages of an enterprise's business portfolio lifecycle, including; the start-up, growth, mature, and renewed portfolios, and recognise the relationship between these business portfolio stages and the organisational infrastructures necessary to support and stimulate innovation in a competitive and rapidly changing environment.be capable of developing an appropriate business case to justify the commercialisation of creative ideas into new business initiatives or into appropriate and innovative business processbe capable of providing leadership in demanding innovation contexts including; organisational renewal, supply chain and business alliance network environments.
