Full-time 5.0 years (10.0 sessions)

Normal course duration is the effective period of time taken to complete a course when studied Full-time (Full-time Equivalent: FTE). Students are advised to consult the Enrolment Pattern for the actual length of study. Not all courses are offered in Full-time mode.

Admission criteria

Selection for entry to the Bachelor of Dental Science is a two stage process with applicants first being selected for interview based on UMAT (Undergraduate Medical Admissions Test) score (domestic students) or GPA (international applicants). Following interview, applicants will be selected for offer based on a combination of UMAT score and interview outcome; ATAR/GPA may be used to rank applicants with identical UMAT scores.

The following selection criteria will be adopted when assessing applicants:
1. A demonstrated interest in, and understanding of, rural and regional Australia, oral health inequalities, and dental practice within these regions.
2. High level academic ability.
3. The capacity to communicate effectively.
4. Evidence of skill in manual dexterity and spatial sense.
5. Evidence of the understanding of teamwork and motivation to become a dental practitioner.
6. Evidence of community involvement

The following NSW HSC or equivalent subjects are assumed knowledge for the Bachelor of Dental Science course: English Standard, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

Each year at least 25% of places will be set aside for applicants who have a significant rural background or who are Indigenous applicants.  Applicants who wish to apply for one of these places will submit an additional form which details their eligibility for this pathway.
