This subject explores the theoretical foundation of contemporary management thinking in the unique context of law-enforcement, emergency service and security organisations. It draws upon the history of management theory, the evolution in thinking about management in the public sector and the major developments in governance and accountability in law enforcement and security organisations in Australia and overseas.

Students in this subject should be working in a law enforcement, emergency service or security organisation or one that is very similar. Students working at any level of management will be able to apply their knowledge and experience of the organisation to the assessment tasks in the subject.
