SPH309 Analysing Professional Interaction (8)

This subject focuses on the exploration of professional-client interactions in a range of contexts. Students will develop an ability to analyse existing recordings and transcriptions of ordinary and institutional interactions.  They will be introduced to three different approaches to the analysis of interaction: conversation analysis; ethnography and critical discourse analysis. Students will apply the knowledge and skills they develop in this subject to the transcription and analysis of naturally-occuring interactions between people in professionally relevant contexts.
