The staging of these events requires a high level of management skills in specific areas including idea generation, total project planning, coordination of all aspects of the project, a high level of liaison with both public and private sectors, specialised skills in the sourcing of finance via the public and private sectors and the development of marketing strategy in an environment frequently limited by resources. This subject introduces students to the necessary management competencies required for the successful staging of these special tourism events.
